Hartong on Johnny Bench Award Watch List

WICHITA, Kan. -- Indiana senior catcher Brad Hartong has been named to the 2015 Johnny Bench Award presented by Baseball Savings Watch List, The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced.
The award, which annually honors the nation's top catcher,
features five Big Ten catchers and 75 total on its watch list.
Hartong, who has started 13 games this season, is batting .273 with 15 hits and nine runs, which is tied for second for the Hoosiers.
Indiana's Kyle Schwarber, the fourth overall pick of the 2014 MLB Draft, was a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award in 2014.
Semifinalists for the award will be announced May 14 and finalists, which will be determined a national voting panel, will be announced June 2. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at the 18th Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 25, 2015.
