OPENING TIP
• The 2014-15 college basketball season represents the 115th in the history of Indiana University. Indiana will play 8th ranked Maryland Friday, as the 7th-seeded Hoosiers battle the 2nd seeded Terrapins in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals. The two teams split this season with IU winning at home, 89-70 and Maryland defending their home court, 68-66.

HEAD COACH TOM CREAN
• Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and he is in his seventh year with the Hoosiers. He is 311-205 all-time as a head coach and in the last 3+ years, he has led IU to an 93-43 record, the 2013 Big Ten Championship and back-to-back appearances (`12 and `13) for the Hoosiers in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1994. In 2012-13, he was named NABC District 7 and USBWA District V Coach of the Year. In the last two seasons, Crean has mentored three NBA Lottery picks, which is tied with Kansas for the most among NCAA schools.
• Crean is the only Big Ten coach to mentor an NBA lottery pick, a National Player of the Year, a first team All-American, a first team Academic All-American and a Senior Class Award winner this decade.
• Since 2011-12, IU leads all major conference teams in three-point field goal percentage (39.9), field goal percentage (47.4) and are 3rd in free throw percentage (74.0) and 4th nationally in scoring (76.6) over the last 3+ seasons.
THREE-POINT RECORD
• IU has made a school record 301 three-point field goals in 31 games, The 2005-06 squad made 276 triples to previously establish the IU mark.
BIG TEN HONORS
The Big Ten Conference announced its postseason awards on Monday, and Indiana junior guard Yogi Ferrell was named First Team All-Big Ten as voted by the coaches and media. Troy Williams and James Blackmon Jr. earned honorable mention accolades from both the coaches and media as well. Blackmon Jr. was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team, as voted on by the conference coaches.
DID YOU KNOW
• Junior Yogi Ferrell has a school-record 63-game streak of making at least one 3-point field goal. That is the longest active streak in the nation. Ferrell also joined Tom Coverdale, Damon Bailey, Randy Wittman and A.J. Guyton as the only players in IU history to have 1,000 points, 400 assists and 300 rebounds. Ferrell was named to the USBWA All-District V team on Tuesday.
• IU finished third in the nation and led the Big Ten shooting 41.0 from 3-point range.
• IU was eighth in the nation in 3-point field goals made per game at 9.4, which also led the Big Ten.
• IU also led the conference in scoring at 78.0.
CONFERENCE GAMES ONLY
• IU led in conference games only shooting 40.4 from 3-point range, making 9.4 three-pointers per game and scoring 71.9 points per game.
IU INSIGHT
• According to Stats Inc., Indiana has the 6th Lowest Average Years of Eligibility on an NCAA Division I roster at 1.79.
• This will be the first postseson meeting between the two teams since they met in the 2002 NCAA Championship in Atlanta.
• Freshman James Blackmon, Jr., has set a new IU freshman record with 74 three-point field goals made breaking the old mark of 70 set by Eric Gordon in 2007-08.
• Indiana outrebounded Northwestern, 42-25, including a 20-5 advantage on the offensive boards.
• From 14:51 to 9:12 in the opening period, the Hoosiers went on a 16-0 run. James Blackmon Jr. had seven points in that stretch, while Yogi Ferrell knocked in eight points during the run.
• The Hoosiers did not allow a single Northwestern field goal from 18:37 - 9:12 in the first half.
• The 56 points allowed to Northwestern was the third-best defensive effort for the Hoosiers this season (Savannah State, 49 and Rutgers 54).
• IU had 19 assists on 27 field goals made and had just 8 turnovers, the sixth time IU has had single digit miscues against at Big Ten opponent.
QUICK HITS
• Junior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell is 26th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,337 points. He leads all Big Ten juniors in career scoring, assists (432), 3FGM (185) and free throw percentage (82.4). He had his 10th effort of 20 points or more this season when he chipped in 21 points and six rebounds against Michigan State. He had 17 points and 5 assists against Northwestern. In two games against Maryland this year, Ferrell averaged 23.5 points, had 11 assists without a turnover and shot 76.5 (13/17) from three-point range.
• James Blackmon, Jr. had his 10th 20+ point scoring effort when he tied an IU record with 25 points in the Big Ten Tournament against Northwestern. Andrae Patterson scored 25 against Ohio State in 1998. His 5 three-pointers made also is an IU best in the Big Ten Tournament. He also added 6 rebounds and a career-high 7 assists against the Wildcats. He had 22 in the first meeting with Northwestern.
• Freshman reserve Emmitt Holt had eight points and four rebounds off the bench against Northwestern. His best game of the season came against Pittsburgh, when he dropped 15 points. He also is second on the team with 18 blocked shots and is shooting 661 percent from the field.
• Sophomore Troy Williams is one of the most improved players in the Big Ten and had 7 points and 12 rebounds against Northwestern He had his fourth double-double of the year with 17 points and 10 rebounds at Maryland on Feb. 11. He had 16 points and 7 boards in the first meeting with Maryland. He averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 boards against Maryland.
• Sophomore Collin Hartman, who returned six months after tearing an ACL, started 10 games this season. After missing games against Northwestern and Iowa towards the end of the season, he returned to the lineup last week against Michigan State. He is third on the team with 44 offensive rebounds. He had a career-high 15 points and three blocked shots in the win over Maryland on Jan. 22. He followed that up with 12 points at Ohio State. He had 11 points, three rebounds and three steals against Wisconsin.
• Freshman Robert Johnson had six points, three rebounds and two assists against Northwestern. He averaged 7.5 points in 2 games against Maryland. He had 19 points, four assists and made a career-high five 3-point field goals in the win against Minnesota. He had 16 points, three rebounds and two steals at Wisconsin. He is shooting 40.0 percent from long distance. He had 20 points and made 4-of-6 from long distance in the win over Penn State.
• Junior transfer Nick Zeisloft is third on the team with 62 3FGM and is averaging 19.6 minutes per game. He had 17 points and five rebounds against Michigan State. Since January 31, he is shooting 58.0 percent from 3-point range making 29-of-50 3-pointers. He was the top long-distance shooter in league play and second-best in overall games. He had 15 points against Iowa. He had 12 points at Northwestern and 13 points at Rutgers last week. In the win at Illinois, he finished with 10 points and hit a clutch 3-pointer with three minutes left to push the Hoosiers to the victory. He had a career-high 19 points at Wisconsin. He is a graduate student who played for Illinois State the last two years.
ANOTHER BEST
• The Hoosiers 11 three-point field goals made was a Big Ten Tournament best for them, breaking the old mark of 10 set in 2004 vs, Ohio State.

• Yogi Ferrell was 6th in the league in scoring (16.0), 4th in assists (5.0), 8th in three-point percentage (42.0) and 4th in three-point field goals made (2.4).
• James Blackmon, Jr. was 8th in the league in scoring (15.8) and 6th in FT percentage (84.9) and three-point field goals made per game (2.3)
• Troy Williams was 3rd in the league in field goal percentage (55.9) and 4th in rebounding (7.1).
• Nick Zeisloft finished 2nd in the conference shooting 46.2 from three-point range.
CONFERENCE GAMES ONLY
• Yogi Ferrell was 9th in the league in scoring (15.4), 1st in assists (5.2), and 4th in 3FGM (2.5).
