IU Divers Add Events for NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- All four Indiana University divers already qualified for the NCAA Championships added events to their championship schedules on day two of the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
Sophomore Michael Hixon placed third on the 3-meter with a 12-dive score of 840.50. Although the top eight finishers were assured NCAA spots, Hixon needed just to finish in the top-12 after placing first in yesterday's 1-meter championship.
Joining Hixon in the 3-meter competition at NCAAs is freshman James Connor. Connor too was already assured of his spot at the NCAA meet after a third-place finish on the 1-meter yesterday. Today he posted a score of 814.45 to place fourth in the 3-meter event.
Just missing out on an NCAA spot was sophomore Joshua Arndt, who took 10th with a score of 712.95.
The women also doubled up on their NCAA events, led by freshman Jessica Parratto's fourth-place finish in the 1-meter competition with a score of 604.75. Junior Lacey Houser placed eighth with a tally of 588.00 to earn her second event spot.
Both Parratto and Houser punched their NCAA tickets yesterday with top-nine finishes in the 3-meter springboard event.
Men's divers in Zone C have been allotted five NCAA qualifying spots on the 1-meter, eight spots on the 3-meter and six spots on the platform. Once you have earned one of those allotted spots, you can dive the other events at the NCAA Championships by placing in the top-12 in that event at the Zone C Championships.
The same rules apply for the women, who have eight allotted spots on the 1-meter, nine on the 3-meter and eight on the platform.
Qualification concludes Saturday with the women and men on the platform.
