Hoosiers Beat Ball State, Fall Against Texas Tech

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 30 Indiana men's tennis team lost a 4-1 decision against No. 34 Texas Tech, but rebounded for a 4-0 win against Ball State on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers (10-5) earned the doubles point against the Red Raiders with a 6-4 win from the tandem of senior Sven Lalic and freshman Raheel Manji and a 6-4 victory from junior Chris Essick and sophomore Stefan Lugonjic.
The Hoosiers got off to another strong start against Ball State with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to get the doubles point.
In singles play, the Hoosiers won first sets in all six singles matches and won three matches in straight sets to earn the 4-0 overall match victory.
Senior Sven Lalic picked up another singles win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Also picking up points for the Hoosiers, Sam Monette (6-4, 6-3) and Matthew McCoy (6-1, 6-1) came through for the Hoosiers.
Up next Indiana will return to the west coast to play in the San Diego Invitational March 20-22. The Hoosiers next home match is April 3 vs. Nebraska.
