Cangelosi started at first base in four of IU's five wins during the week, including a sweep of No. 12 Cal State Fullerton, leading the Hoosiers in batting average (.500), extra-base hits (4) and total bases (15). In IU's three games vs. Cal State Fullerton, Cangelosi had team highs of six hits, four RBI, 12 total bases and three runs scored.
Earning his first career Big Ten Player of the Week award, Cangelosi had career highs of three hits, three RBI and two runs in IU's 10-4 win vs. Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, while his home run in IU's win on Saturday gave the Hoosiers a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning.
For the week, Cangelosi tallied two triples, a home run and a double.
A Hoosier has been honored in four of the first five weeks of the season, with Nick Ramos earning Big Ten Player of the Week on Feb. 16 and Logan Sowers taking back-to-back Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on March 3 and 9.
Indiana now has 22 weekly conference honors since 2013 and five this season. The Hoosiers earned 11 such accolades in 2014 and six in 2013.
