Baseball Pitches Shutout for 11th Straight W

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana picked up its second shutout win in three games with a 4-0 victory vs. Valparaiso on Tuesday at Bart Kaufman Field, the Hoosiers' 11th consecutive win overall.
IU used seven different pitchers to combine for 12 strikeouts in the win, marking the sixth time in 2015 that the Hoosiers have tallied double-digit Ks.
Brian Hobbie, honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday, earned the win while pitching a team-high three scoreless innings and a slinging a team-best four strikeouts. Hobbie allowed just one of Valpo's four total hits.
Led by two hits from Scott Donley, Indiana totaled seven on Tuesday, three of which came in a three-run seventh inning that broke the game open for IU.
Leading 1-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Indiana added its first two runs of the frame on a 2-RBI single from Brad Hartong, driving in Laren Eustace and Will Nolden from second and third.
Casey Rodrigue's RBI double scored Hartong for the final score. Rodrigue
has a team-high nine extra-base hits in 2015, including three doubles.
Scott Effross started for the fourth time this season in his first appearance since
Feb. 27 at College of Charleston. Effross pitched one inning and threw one strikeout while allowing zero hits.
Indiana stranded seven Crusaders on base, including four in the first three innings.

••• Indiana won its 11th consecutive game on Tuesday, matching the sixth-longest streak in school history and marking IU's ninth such string of 11 wins or more all-time. Heading into Tuesday's game, IU was tied for the third-longest winning streak in the nation with 10.
••• The Hoosiers are 6-0 through six games at Bart Kaufman Field, marking IU's second-best start at the ballpark in three years. Indiana won its first seven games at Bart Kaufman Field in 2013 and the first five in 2014.
••• Ten of Indiana's first 11 games were decided by three runs or less. Four of the last seven have been decided by four runs or more.
••• Scott Donley now has consecutive multi-hit games, five this season and 56 in his career. Donley had a team-high two hits and scored IU's first run on Tuesday.
••• Indiana took the lead for good in the fourth and moved to 10-0 in games the Hoosiers lead after four innings.
••• Indiana's bullpen hasn't given up a run in its last 26 innings pitched.
••• Luke Harrison has now appeared in 71 career games, moving up to fifth all-time in Indiana history. Harrison pitched one inning, allowed zero hits and threw a strikeout.
••• IU is 42-6 in the month of March since 2013 and is 10-0 in 2015.
••• Brad Hartong has registered multiple RBI in three of his last five games and has a total of eight in that span.
