Sowers Tabbed B1G Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Indiana outfielder Logan Sowers earned his first career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday, March 2.
In a weekend split at the College of Charleston, Sowers batted .500, tallying a team-high four hits, two doubles, two runs and a run batted in.
A career-high three of his four hits came in IU's 15-1 win on Saturday. The Lafayette, Ind., native's RBI double and run in the fourth inning helped IU establish a 2-0 lead, while his single in the eighth helped IU load the bases with one out before the Hoosiers pulled away with five runs in the frame.
Indiana's first B1G Freshman of the Week since Evan Bell on Feb. 18, 2013, Sowers' recognition marks Indiana's 19th weekly conference honor since 2013 and second this season. The Hoosiers earned 11 such accolades in 2014 and six in 2013.
Sowers is tied for the team lead with four total extra-base hits and three doubles and ranks second for IU with 10 hits and 15 total bases.
The Hoosiers return to action at the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., March 6-8. IU will play its only scheduled doubleheader on Friday vs. Villanova and Dartmouth before facing St. Joseph's on Saturday and Ball State on Sunday.
