Hoosiers Open Outdoor Season in Texas, Arizona

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana track and field team will open the outdoor season this week when they send three student-athletes to Austin, Texas for the Texas Relays and the majority of the team to Tempe, Ariz., for the inaugural Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge hosted by Arizona State.
Juniors Stephen Keller and Dylan Anderson return to competition after they finished ninth and 10th respectively in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships two weeks ago in Fayetteville, Ark. The duo will compete in the decathlon (10 events over two days) starting on Wednesday March 25. Also on the trip to Texas is Terry Batemon, who finished in third-place in the pole vault at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.
The Hoosiers will take about 50 student-athletes to Arizona for the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge which feature competition on Saturday March 28 at the Joe Selleh Track at Sun Angel Stadium.
Sophomore Tre'tez Kinnaird, who earned First Team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships with an eighth-place finish in the 800m with open the outdoor season in Arizona. Kinnaird, the Big Ten Indoor Champion at 800m also set an IU school record in the indoor season with a time of 1:48.20 at the Meyo Invitational.
The meet will pit Big Ten schools Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska against Pac 12 schools Arizona State, Arizona and UCLA. There will be a video stream of the running events starting at about 8:00 p.m. ET until 12:00 a.m. ET.
The 88th running of the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays will start at 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday with the heptathlon and the decathlon will start at 12:00 p.m. ET. The decathlon day one will include the following events: 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m. Day two of the decathlon will start Thursday at 11:00 a.m. ET with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m run.
The men's pole vault at the Texas Relays will be Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
