BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football team held their second spring practice of 2015 on Saturday. Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson, offensive lineman Dan Feeney and defensive lineman Darius Latham shared their thoughts on day two of spring practices.
"In the first two days, we've had a lot of energy, a lot of competitiveness, a lot of ebb and flow in practice," Wilson said regarding what he has seen early in the spring season. "I've seen a lot of good things in a lot of places that we need to see, and on both sides of the ball."
Wilson is encouraged by what he's seen in the first two helmets-only practices, but is reserving judgment until tomorrow, when the Hoosiers put on the pads for a full-contact day.
"I like the first two days," Wilson said. "But it's been helmets-only. I'm anxious to see how it translates tomorrow in our first padded go."

Defensive lineman Darius Latham is coming off of a sophomore season in which he recorded 26 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. Latham is excited about starting spring practice in his third year as a Hoosier, mostly to get back into physical and mental shape for football.
"We're just getting back into the groove," Latham said. "You've got to get back into football shape, that's the biggest thing right now."
Latham's main focuses in spring training are the fundamentals, getting back to the essence of his game on the defensive line.
"I'm trying to get more comfortable in my stance," said Latham. "In the 3-4 [defense], I have to move laterally."
When asked about the defensive line unit as a whole, Latham said they have some big shoes to fill in the offseason.
"We lost Bobby [Richardson], so now the next man has to step up," Latham said.

Indiana offensive lineman Dan Feeney returns from a sophomore season where he received All-Big Ten honorable mention honors, and has allowed just one sack in his 24 career starts at the right guard position. Feeney enters his junior season with a leadership mindset, eager to get the younger players up to speed with how to play the Indiana way.
"We're just trying to teach some of the younger guys, especially the offensive linemen, how we do what we do," said Feeney. "Teaching them our standard of football, how we approach things and how we deal with them."
Feeney is eager to show the Indiana faithful how much the offensive line has grown in the offseason.
"We have a whole lot of potential," Feeney said. "We have a lot of guys with talent and experience in starting games, and that's only going to help us."

IU will have two more practices in March and seven in April before the annual Cream & Crimson Spring Game, which will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18.
"We had a good winter," Wilson said. "It's translated into playing a little more crisply as we start up work here."
