TEMPE, Ariz. -- Separated by over 1,000 miles freshman Daniel Kuhn and junior Sophie Gutermuth each set top-three marks in IU school history at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Big Ten-Pac 12 Challenge in Tempe, Ariz.
 
Kuhn, who competed in Arizona, finished second in the 800m run as he crossed the finish line in 1:47.80. The time is nearly a three second personal record and is the third fastest time in IU school history.
 
At the Texas Relays, junior Gutermuth set a career-best mark in the pole vault of 4.35m (14-3.25) to finish in fifth-place and set the third best mark in IU school history.
 
Big Ten-Pac 12 Challenge 
Sophomore Tre'tez Kinnaird finished in fourth-place in the 800m in 1:51.73. In the women's 800m Samantha Gwin finished fourth in 2:10.73.
 
The Indiana men swept the top four spots in the 1,500m run with senior Evan Esselink taking the win in 3:48.66. Rorey Hunter finished in second-place with a time of 3:48.71. Matthew Schwartzer and Kieran Reilly finished third and fourth respectively in 3:49.08 and 3:49.10. On the women's side sophomore Brittany Neeley finished fourth-place in 4:28.98.
 
Junior Brianna Johnson won the women's 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:34.98. Sophomore Jeremy Coughler finished runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:03.47. Eric Claxton was fourth in 9:05.73.
 
Senior Derrick Morgan set a career-best in the 400m dash with a fourth-place finish in 46.96. Diquis Manley finished ninth in 48.49.
 
Cornelius Strickland recorded a pair of top-four finishes. Strickland took second in the 200m dash in 21.38 and finished fourth in the 100m dash in 10.58.
 
Up next the Hoosiers return to the west coast next weekend for the Stanford Invitational, April 3-4 in Palo Alto, Calif.
