Kuhn Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --In the first outdoor meet of his collegiate career, IU freshman Daniel Kuhn became the fifth Hoosier to run under 1:48 in the 800m. Kuhn earned recognition as the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced today.
 
Kuhn finished in second-place in the 800m at the Big Ten-Pac 12 Invitational on Saturday in a time of 1:47.80, the third fastest time in IU school history. His time currently ranks as the top time in the NCAA East Region and the fourth fastest time in the NCAA combined regions.
 
Kuhn, the Indiana State Champion as a senior at Shelbyville High School last year improved on his previous best by nearly three seconds.
 
In the 600m final at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, Kuhn placed seventh to score points for the team in a time of 1:18.70.
 
Up next Kuhn and the Hoosiers travel to Palo, Alto, Calif., this weekend for the Stanford Invitational.
