Sowers Honored by Big Ten for Third Time

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten announced Tuesday that Indiana outfielder Logan Sowers earned his third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, marking the most weekly recognitions of any player in the conference this season.
Sowers, who is tied for IU's lead with 22 runs batted in, had one of his most important on Friday vs. Rutgers, who Sowers helped the Hoosiers sweep last weekend.
Facing a full count with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth Friday, Sowers smashed a single to right centerfield to bring in the winning run as IU opened the weekend with a walk-off win. It was Sowers' third hit of the evening, leading IU and matching a career high.
For the week, Sowers led Indiana with nine total bases, six hits, five RBI and three doubles while also scoring three runs.
Sowers also recorded RBI doubles and scored in Indiana's 6-0 and 5-4 wins on Friday and Saturday.
Indiana now has 23 weekly conference honors since 2013 and six this season, half of which are owned by Sowers.
