BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- After a successful opening weekend to start the spring season last weekend in Louisville, the Indiana volleyball team will host its only home competition of the spring against Indiana State on Saturday April 4 at University Gym.

The day will start at 10:30 a.m. ET with competitive drills and will then feature a tradition scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Hoosiers played three matches each for two sets last weekend in Louisville and had an overall record of 1-1-1 with a 2-0 win against Memphis, a 2-0 defeat against Western Kentucky and a 1-1 tie against Cincinnati.

Freshman Jessica Leish hit .306 with 22 kills and six aces on the day and juniors Amelia Anderson and Chante' George registered 17 and 14 kills apiece. The Hoosiers tallied 17 team aces, 15 blocks and 100 digs (16.7 per set) over the six sets.

"The type of teams we played had very different styles of offense," IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said. "That really pushed us and helped us prepare for next season. I thought as the day went along we became more and more comfortable with the things we have been doing in practice and playing with confidence."

With the Big Ten experimenting with instant replay in volleyball for the upcoming season, the Hoosiers will utilize instant replay at the match this weekend against Indiana State.
