BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football team completed its sixth spring practice of 2015 on Tuesday morning at the IU Practice Fields. Head coach Kevin Wilson, offensive line coach Greg Frey and offensive lineman Jason Spriggs shared their thoughts after IU's fourth full-padded practice.
"It was a good day," Wilson said. "I'm looking for some consistency on the offense, and I'm looking for the defense to continue to find ways to bring it and be more physical on a daily basis."
Coach Wilson commented on IU's offensive line after Tuesday's practice. Wilson likes the state of the Hoosiers offensive front, as the group is in a position to succeed this season and into the future.
"We've got some experience, and we've got some young talent," Wilson said. "I think it could be a very good group. It will only be a very good group if it's really consistent with effort, toughness, and bringing it week after week."

POSITION PROFILE: OFFENSIVE LINE
Greg Frey is in his fifth season as Indiana's offensive line coach, and has served as the co-offensive coordinator since the start of the 2014 season. Frey's offensive lines have helped the Hoosiers become the only team to rank in the top four in the Big Ten for rushing and passing yards over the last three seasons. In Frey's eyes, the players are making progress but still have a lot to learn before the start of the season.
"We do some good stuff and some bad stuff," Frey said. We're a little sluggish. We've got to get to the ball and get moving. We're still not hitting the pace that we want to be playing at."
Coach Frey took time to speak on one of Indiana's most battle-tested offensive linemen, senior Jason Spriggs. Frey is encouraged by Spriggs jump in his maturity during the offseason, which is in turn molding him into a better, smarter player.
"Now, he's old enough that he knows when he screwed up, what he screwed up, and how to fix it," Frey said. "There aren't any perfect players out there, but once guys understand what they're doing right and doing wrong, it helps them in the competitiveness of the sport."
For Frey, his goal for spring practice is simple.
"Working together, cutting down on mental mistakes and getting into better shape," Frey said. "We'd like to get out of spring with eight or nine guys that we feel good with."

Spriggs made 10 starts at left tackle last season on the Hoosiers' offensive line, which helped set a single-season program record for rushing yards (3,163). He allowed only two sacks in his 689 snaps and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. When asked about the team as a whole, Spriggs had many of the same critiques as his head coach.
"We need to work more on our physicality," Spriggs said. "As a team, we're doing a lot better, and we have more camaraderie as a team as well."
Regarding his position group, Spriggs said that spring practice is all about bringing the younger players up to speed.
"Offensive line isn't the same as other positions where you're learning plays," Spriggs said. "It's knowing how to play, and teaching the younger guys how to play. That's something that comes with experience."
