Big Ten to Battle ACC in Louisville

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana track and field squad will team up with Michigan State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge against host Louisville and Notre Dame on Saturday April 11 at Louisville Cardinal Park.
The meet will get started at 10:00 a.m. ET with the men's hammer throw. Running events start at 11:00 a.m.
Three weeks into the outdoor season, the Hoosiers currently hold 19 times/marks in the top-5 in the Big Ten and have set nine times/marks in the top-10 in school history. The team currently has 31 athletes in 44 events in the top-48 in the NCAA East Region, which it takes for NCAA first round qualifying.
Last week the Hoosiers competed in the Stanford Invitational, which was highlighted by success in the distance events.
Sophomore Amanda Behnke and Evan Esselink had big personal bests in the 10,000m run. Behnke improved on her previous best by 34 seconds to finish 10th in section two of the 10K in a time of 33:59.60, the sixth fastest time in school history. Esselink improved on his previous best by 13 seconds to finish fifth in section two of the 10K in a time of 28:55.98, the fifth fastest time in school history.
In the 5,000m races, senior Rorey Hunter ran a season-best time of 13:55.27 and freshman Jill Whitman ran the ninth fastest times in school history in a career-best time of 16:27.05.
In the 3,000m steeplechase Josh Roche ran a season-best time of 8:48.01, which currently ranks as the second best time in the Big Ten.
