BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana field hockey head coach Amanda Janney has announced the 2015 schedule, which includes eight regular season games to be played at the Indiana Field Hockey Complex.
The slate features eight opponents who finished the 2014 season ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, including Syracuse who was the runner-up in last year's National Championship.
"We put together a great schedule where we are playing a majority of Top 20 teams and getting the experience we need against teams like Syracuse, Louisville and the California teams," said Janney. "We know those non-conference games are really going to prepare us for our tough competition in the Big Ten."
The Hoosiers will open up pre-season competition with a scrimmage at Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 18 before a Crimson and Cream scrimmage on Aug. 21. The final pre-season match of the year will see Indiana host Iowa on Aug. 23.
For the second straight year, Indiana will start the regular season in Louisville, Ky. as Indiana faces Missouri State on Aug. 28 and Louisville on Aug. 30.
The following weekend, the Hoosiers will head west to California to square off against Stanford (Sept. 4), Pacific (Sept. 5) and California (Sept. 7).
Home play at the IUFH Complex begins on Sept. 11 with Miami (Ohio). A week later, Ball State will visit the Hoosiers on Sept. 19. Also coming to town for non-conference play is Syracuse on Oct. 11.
The first weekend of Big Ten competition has Iowa (Sept. 25) and Northwestern (Sept. 27) traveling to Bloomington. Other home Big Ten matches include Penn State (Oct. 18) and Rutgers (Oct. 30).
Conference roads games including Michigan (Oct. 4), Michigan State (Oct. 9), Ohio State (Oct. 16) and Maryland (Oct. 23). In addition, Indiana will visit Washington D.C. to play American University on Oct. 25.
The 2015 Big Ten Tournament will take place in Bloomington with action beginning Nov. 5 and concluding on Nov. 8.
"We're excited to host the Big Ten Tournament in Bloomington this upcoming November," said Janney. "We believe the schedule is going to prepare us to play our best and be playing our best hockey in November."
The NCAA Tournament begins on Nov. 14 and will conclude Nov. 22 with University of Michigan hosting the NCAA Championship.
