PHILADELPHIA -- The Indiana track and field team completed day two at the Penn Relays Friday at Franklin Field. At the Drake Relays IU alum Derek Drouin won the high jump and alum Molly Ludlow finished fourth in the 800m.
In the Men's Distance Medley Relay Championship of America, the Hoosiers finished fourth in 9:37.71. Tre'tez Kinnaird led off and handed off in fourth-place after the 1200m leg (2:56.91 split). Derrick Morgan ran a 47.58 split for the 400m and handed off to Daniel Kuhn, who opened up a slight lead on the field. Kuhn ran a 1:50.49 800m split and handed to Rorey Hunter, who stayed in third-place for most of his leg and split 4:02.74 for the 1600m.
In the Women's 4X1500m Relay Championship of America, the Hoosiers finished in fifth-place, led by a 4:25.7 split from Brianna Johnson on the second leg of the relay. Also competing on the relay were Brenna Calder,Madison Stenger and Corinne Cominator.
At the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, IU alum and 2012 London Olympic Bronze Medalist Derek Drouinwon the Beijing World Championship Preview high jump title with a clearance of 2.32m (7-7 ¼). It was Drouin's second straight Drake Relays high jump title.
In the Women's 800m Beijing World Championship Preview at Drake Relays, IU alum Molly Ludlow finished in fourth-place in 2:01.72 after passing several people in the last 150m.
The Hoosiers will continue competition tomorrow on the final day of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. On the schedule will be the men's 4XMile and the men's and women's 4X800m races.
