Ballard, Fives, Moore and Thompson take home honors.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana men's soccer team announced its Iron Hoosier and Jerry Yeagley Award winners at the end of the spring season dinner Wednesday night.
Sophomore Richard Ballard was named the Iron Hoosier award winner. This award is given to the most consistent performer in the strength and conditioning program. According to Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning/Performance Tom Morris, Ballard brought great energy, leadership and a tremendous work rate to each strength and conditioning session. Ballard demonstrated mental toughness and a desire to get better every day.
The Jerry Yeagley Award went to junior Phil Fives, freshman Francesco Moore and sophomore Tanner Thompson. Throughout the spring the team has different opportunities within training sessions for players to earn points if their team wins a particular training activity. These points are tallied up and at the end of the spring each player is ranked among the group. At the end of the spring season Fives, Moore and Thompson had the highest point total. This award symbolizes the consistent winning demonstrated by Coach Jerry Yeagley throughout his career. The competitive nature and commitment to help his team win has been a key component of our program.
