BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 44 Indiana men's tennis team will be the No. 5 seed and open play in the Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament against No. 12 seed Purdue on Thursday April 23 at 11:00 a.m. ET.
The tournament is hosted by Illinois and all matches will be played at the Atkins Tennis Center.
After a 16-17 finish and a ninth-place finish in the Big Ten a season ago, under new head coach Jeremy Wurtzman, the Hoosiers finished the regular season 17-10 and fifth in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers have won five of their last seven matches, including a 4-0 win against the Boilermakers on April 15 in Bloomington.
"We have had a good year and great leadership from Sven Lalic and we have had players that have stepped up," Wurtzman said. "We know Purdue is going to be a tough match in the first round with it being a rival. We are going in focused on that match and we are not looking ahead."
"The season has had its ups and downs for up and I think we still have some ups in us," he added. "I think we can take what we have done really well and use it to have a successful Big Ten Tournament and hopefully make the NCAA Tournament."
