Hoosiers Fall to Northwestern in Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The No. 5 seed Indiana men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 match against No. 4 seed Northwestern in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament on Friday at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Northwestern (20-7) took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches against the Hoosiers (18-11) to get the doubles point and build a 1-0 lead.
Northwestern went on to win the first set in five of the six singles matches. Senior Sven Lalic put the Hoosiers on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to bring the match score to 2-1. The Wildcats picked up a win at No. 6 singles to go up 3-1.
After dropping the first set, junior Daniel Bednarczyk came back to win his second set 7-5 and force a final set. Northwestern's Strong Kirchheimer would win that set and clinch the match for Northwestern.
The Hoosiers will now await the NCAA Men's Tennis Selection Announcement on Tuesday April 28 at 5:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com to see if they will make the 64 team field.
