IU Falls to Penn State in B1G Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The fifth-seeded Indiana women's tennis team fell to fourth-seeded Penn State on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, 4-2.
PSU (13-10) struck first winning the No. 2 doubles match before Stephanie Smith and Shannon Murdy won at No. 3 to even the doubles portion. The No. 1 match came down to a tiebreaker between IU's Carolyn Chupa and Alecia Kauss against Katie Blik and Victoria Kisialeva of Penn State. The Nittany Lion duo outlasted the Hoosiers 8-6 in the tiebreak to take the doubles point for PSU.
Katie Klyczek put Indiana (16-8) on the board to even the match at 1-1 as she downed Blik in straight sets in the No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-2. Penn State then jumped in front 3-1 after victories at No. 5 and No. 3.
Chupa added another point for the Hoosiers as she downed PSU's Jacqueline Zuhse, 6-4, 7-6 (3), in the No. 6 position. Victoria Kisialeva shut the door on IU as she clinched the match for Penn State by defeating Alecia Kauss, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
