Five Hoosiers Earn Preseason Recognition

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Five Hoosiers earned spots on Phil Steele's preseason teams, highlighted by offensive lineman Dan Feeney. The junior right guard is a first team All-Big Ten selection and a fourth team All-American.
Senior offensive lineman Jason Spriggs (second team), junior running back Jordan Howard (second team), senior quarterback Nate Sudfeld (fourth team) and sophomore kicker Griffin Oakes (fourth team) secured All-Big Ten recognition.
Feeney has allowed just one sack in 24 career starts at right guard (1,736 snaps). He started all 12 games in 2014 and led the offensive line with 80 knockdowns.
Indiana set a program single-season record with 3,163 rushing yards. IU averaged 263.6 rushing yards per game (ninth nationally, third in the Big Ten) and 405.0 total yards (fifth in the Big Ten).
Spriggs started 28 consecutive games to begin his career and has made 34 starts in 35 games at left tackle. The Concord, Ind., native allowed just two sacks in 689 snaps and recorded 45 knockdowns as a honorable mention All-Big Ten performer for the third straight year.
Howard transferred from UAB after two seasons in Birmingham. Since the start of the 2013 season, he ranks second nationally among active running backs with 451 attempts and 107.3 rushing yards per game, fifth with 2,468 rushing yards and 114.0 yards from scrimmage per game, and seventh with 2,623 yards from scrimmage.
Sudfeld ranks second in program history in completion percentage (60.6), tied for second in 300-yard passing games (four), fifth in passing touchdowns (34), eighth in passing yardage (4,306) and completions (346), ninth in attempts (571) and 10th in total offense (4,377) in just 25 career games (14 starts).
In his debut season last year, Oakes made 13-of-18 field goals (72.2 percent) and 23-of-23 extra points. His 58-yarder against Maryland set a school record, was the longest in the county and the 10th-longest in Big Ten history.
