The double-elimination competition begins on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET when Indiana takes on second-seeded Radford. No. 1 Vanderbilt, the defending College World Series champion, battles fourth-seeded Lipscomb on Friday evening at 8 p.m. ET. Both games will be streamed on ESPN3.
Indiana, one of a Big Ten-record five teams to be selected, enters the tournament as one of the nation's hottest teams having won 11 of its previous 14 contests. Eight of IU's 15 wins vs. Top 50 RPI teams this season have come during that span. With 22 total games played vs. RPI Top 50 teams and a strength of schedule that ranks 31st nationally, the Hoosiers are battle-tested heading into postseason play.
IU, selected to three consecutive NCAA Baseball Championships for the first time in school history, will need that experience as they go on the road for the NCAA Regional for the first time in that span, earning its first-ever at-large bid.
1 SEED: Vanderbilt won the Southeastern Conference East division before losing in the SEC Tournament Championship game to Florida. The Commodores are 42-19 (20-10 SEC) and are hosting an NCAA Regional for the fourth time in five years.
2 SEED: Radford, Indiana's opening opponent, won the Big South regular season and tournament titles, boasting a 43-14 overall record. The No. 23 Highlanders went 20-4 in conference play.
4 SEED: Lipsomb, 39-18 overall and 13-8 in the Atlantic Sun, won its conference tournament for an automatic qualifying bid.
Indiana advanced to its first-ever College World Series in 2013 and became the first Big Ten school to earn a national seed in 2014, hosting an NCAA Regional as the No. 4 overall seed.
The ESPN family of networks will broadcast each game of the regional.
Each Indiana game of the NCAA Tournament can be heard on the IU Radio Network with Greg Murray calling the action.
