From the News-Sentinel:
It's rare when a high school girls softball player is compared to the great Hank Aaron, but Homestead's Sarah Galovich earned that high praise.
Galovich hit 12 home runs during her senior season this past spring, an impressive feat by any standard. The fact she's not a physical giant at 5-foot-6 makes it even more so.
"She's like Ernie Banks with those wrists and forearms, or Hank Aaron, both were pretty slight but had very strong arms and significant bat speed," Homestead softball coach Tom Clagg said. "She has very quick hands. She gets the bat around quickly and generates a lot of power."
Galovich's hitting prowess was hardly limited to homers. While setting 11 school records (nine of them at the plate), she exited her senior season with eye-popping single-season marks of .568 batting average, 63 hits, 55 runs, 21 doubles and 46 RBIs.
Her phenomenal season led to the incoming Indiana University player being selected as The News-Sentinel's 2015 Softball Player of the Year.
"For my senior year, I wanted to succeed as well as I could so I buckled down," Galovich said. "I'd work with my travel coach and hitting coach, Wayne McCoy, twice a week and I'd go to the batting cage every day before the season because I wanted to increase my hitting."
