CWPA Announces Women's Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team

12 Hoosiers earned academic honors from the CWPA; IU ranks sixth in CWPA in team GPA

The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced their 2015 Varsity Scholar-Athletes team on Wednesday. Among the 137 CWPA student-athletes selected, 12 Hoosiers received academic honors. As a team, Indiana ranked sixth in the CWPA with a team GPA of 3.36.

Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the season.

IU Water Polo received six of the 33 outstanding academic honors (3.71-4.00), more than any other school in the CWPA. Those receiving outstanding honors include Rebecca Gerrity, Emily Lowe, Kelly Matthews, Sarah Myers, Devon Peterson, and Shelby Taylor.

Four of Indiana's freshmen in 2015 earned Scholar-Athlete honors. Emily Lowe, Kelly Matthews, and Sarah Myers earned outstanding honors, while Sarah Young earned superior honors in her first academic year.

Indiana University has totaled 117 ACWPC All-Academic selections in their 15 seasons at the varsity level. View the full list of the 2015 honorees below:
