KAZAN, Russia - In the preliminary round of the men's platform diving at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, IU sophomore James Connor advanced to the semifinals with a score of 435.95 over his six dives, which left him in 15th place.
In the semifinals, Connor would move up to 13th, falling one spot shy of advancing to the finals, with a semifinals score of 427.75.
With the IU diving complete at the World Championships, the Hoosiers efforts were led by Michael Hixon's bronze medal in the 1-meter spring board earlier in the week. Hixon is the reigning Big Ten Champion on the 1-meter springboard and finished fifth in the event at the 2015 NCAA Championships. He was the 2014 NCAA Champion on the 1-meter.
On the women's side earlier this week, Amy Cozad's 6th place finish on the platform was the best finish by an American woman in that event at the world championships since 2007.
As the World Championships continue this week, former Hoosier Cody Miller will be in the pool for the preliminary heats of the 100-meter breaststroke on Sunday while sophomore Ali Khalafalla will be competing for his native country of Egypt in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - At the 2015 Speedo Junior Nationals in San Antonio, freshman Shelly Drozda touched the wall in fifth place in the C final of the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 2:17.19 on Friday night.

All three will be back in action on Sunday in San Antonio, with Drozda in the 100 backstroke, Finnerty in the 200 freestyle and Tucker in the 200 breaststroke.
