Arndt 6th At US Diving Championships

ORLANDO – Joshua Arndt, a junior diver at Indiana, had a strong first day at the 2015 USA Diving ATT National Diving Championships, finishing sixth in the finals of the 1m springboard in his first appearance at senior nationals.
Arndt, a native of La Porte, Ind., qualified for the finals by placing sixth in the preliminary round this morning with a score of 322.80. His best score came on the fourth dive, when he was awarded a score of 58.50.
Then, as he moved on to the finals, he second dive – a forward 2 ½ somersault 1 twist pike dive earned a score of 62.40. He remained consisted over his final four dives and finished with a total score of 325.25.
He will be back in action on Wednesday in the 3-meter springboard competition.
A former Hoosier also made a splash in the pool on Tuesday, as Cody Miller was competing in the 2015 Swimming World Cup event in Moscow. In the 200m breaststroke, Miller finished second behind world champion Marco Kotch from Germany. Miller's time of 2:09.08 was just .31 of a second behind Kotch.
Miller will join another former IU standout, Lindsay Vrooman, at the Paris World Cup later this week.
