Tong, Siriko At U.S. Women's Amateur

PORTLAND, Ore. - Recent IU graduate and former IU women's golf team member Elizabeth Tong along with current sophomore Pear Siriko completed the stroke play portiong of the U.S. Women's Amateur tournament at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore.
Tong finished tied for 22nd in the stroke play portion and will advance to the round of 64 match play that starts later on Wednesday. To follow along, click the "Scoring" link at the top of this article. In her first round, Tong carded a 2-over par round of 74 but rallied in round two to post 2-under par 70 and finish at Even par. She will take on Magdalena Simmermacher (Argentina) in her first match play round.
For Siriko, she got off to a tough start in the stroke play portiong, logging a 7-over par 79 in round one and followed that with an 80 in round two to finish at 15-over par and miss the cut for stroke play. But it was a great experience for Siriko, the native of Thailand, and one she will use to propel her into her sophomore season in Bloomington.
