Three Hoosiers Highlight Big Ten Preseason Watch List

Barber, Lorite, and Volgraf included in Big Ten Conference's players to watch in 2015
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Three members of the Indiana Field Hockey team were acknowledged in the Big Ten Conference's 2015 Players to Watch list, which was revealed on Friday morning. Senior Karen Lorite, senior Nicole Volgraf, and junior Kate Barber joined the Big Ten's list of the most highly anticipated players entering the 2015 season.
Lorite, a standout returning senior for the Hoosiers this season, has played and started in all 36 of Indiana's games the past two seasons. The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree has scored nine goals and served six assists in the past two seasons, and ranked second on the team last season in defensive saves.
Volgraf returns for her senior season in 2015, her fifth year in the Indiana uniform. The Lafayette Hill, Pa. native has played in 49 games over three seasons with 28 starts, including 15 starts in 17 appearances last season. The forward has 14 goals to her name in her career, and will look to lead this year's squad in a well-balanced attack. Volgraf adds this preseason recognition to her two Academic All-Big Ten honors, along with a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award last year.
Barber is one of eight juniors chosen to the conference's preseason watch list, and joins Volgraf as one of two Indiana captains selected. Barber has played and started all 34 games of her two-year Indiana career, tallying two goals and three assists from the defensive midfield. Barber will aim to lead the midfielders throughout Indiana's 2015 campaign with her strong mental presence on the turf, along with her heightened sense of the strategic aspect of Coach Janney's game plan. Barber adds this acknowledgement to her Academic All-Big Ten selection and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award, both of which she received last season.
