Indiana Field Hockey will commence the 2015 season with an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, August 24 at 4:00 pm
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Field Hockey team will officially open the 2015 season with the annual Cream & Crimson Scrimmage. The exhibition is an intrasquad scrimmage, in which the Hoosiers are split into two teams to play against one another. The game will begin on Friday, August 21 at 4:00 pm ET at the IU Field Hockey Complex.
Friday's scrimmage will run similarly to a regular season game. The teams will play a standard two halves at 35 minutes apiece. A simulation of a 15-minute overtime period will follow the 70 minutes of regulation. The format for overtime will be sudden death, and will stop following the first goal in the period. After the regulation and overtime periods, the teams will square off in a five-on-five penalty shootout, regardless of who wins the regulation and overtime periods.
The lineups for the two teams will be released on Friday morning. The first half will pit the likely starters against Indiana's rotation players. In the second half, the coaches will blend the two squads for an altered dynamic.
Admission is free and open to the public.
