2015 men's class has earned 14 state championships by eight different athletes.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU head coach Ron Helmer has announced the signing of an incredibly talented and already successful 15 member mens's signing class for 2015.
"Our coaching staff did an outstanding job of scouring the country in search of athletes who can both have an immediate impact in every event area but also those athletes who we believe have the potential and desire to develop into outstanding contributors with the necessary time and work," Helmer said. "This group has a very positive spirit, one that we feel will be very valuable as they grow, learn to trust one another's efforts and ultimately have the opportunity to win championships as a collective group of Hoosiers."
The class hails from 11 different states and countries and has combined for 14 high school state championships and two national championships by eight different athletes.
The 2015 Indiana men's recruiting class includes thrower Willie Morrison, who had a banner year in 2015. Morrison was the 2015 Indoor and Outdoor New Balance National Champion in the shot put and also won Kansas State Championships in the shot put and discus, including a Kansas State Record in the shot put (70'2. 5").
Also in the field events, Eric Bethea from New Jersey comes to Indiana having won 2015 state championships in the long jump and triple jump. Bryce Millar, Kyle Mau and William Mulloy add to a strong distance tradition with a combined five state championships between the three of them. The class also brings sprinting talent with Phillip Moore, who went undefeated in 2015 at 100m and 200m in the state of Washington. Markevious Roach was fifth in the 400m at the 2015 Florida State Championship.
The class includes four individuals from the state of Indiana, including two who recently were runner-ups at the Indiana State Championships in David Schall (Discus) and Adam Wallace (800m).
"They are talented and understand how to win which gives us many reasons to be incredibly optimistic as we move forward into 2015-16," Helmer said.
