Indiana's junior captain reviews the Hoosiers' preseason play in anticipation of Friday's regular season-opener
Indiana midfielder Mollie Getzfread returns in 2015 as one of the Hoosiers' three captains heading into her junior season. The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree gave her thoughts on Indiana's play in their preseason games against Miami (Ohio) and Iowa.
"We learned that we work really well together, and that we've had a lot of good passing patterns up the field," Getzfread said, describing the positive takeaways of Indiana's preseason games. "In practices, our corners are working for us, and we're scoring a lot on them."
The Hoosiers have made great strides in the early going, but according to Getzfread, they have to take some steps as a team in order to achieve their goal of excellent execution. "The scrimmage against Louisville showed how we really worked well as a team, but we weren't able to finish in the circle as well," said Getzfread. "Getting those final touches on the ball to get it in the cage will help us."
Nonetheless, the junior captain is ready for the regular season to get underway. "I can't wait," Getzfread said in anticipation of their season-opener in Louisville. "I'm so excited to show everyone in the Big Ten who we really are this year."
Indiana begins the 2015 regular season on Friday, August 28 against Missouri State. The game will take place at 4:00 pm ET at Trager Stadium on the University of Louisville campus. It will be the first of two games played in Louisville this coming weekend, the second of which will take place against the hosting Louisville Cardinals on Sunday, August 30 at 1:30 pm ET.
