• The Hoosiers will host NCAA Division II power Bellarmine in an exhibition game on Monday, November 9 at 7 p.m. IU has won 19 straight exhibition games against NCAA Division II, III or NAIA schools since the 2004-05 season. Ironically, the Hoosiers began that streak against Bellarmine with a 101-64 victory over the Knights that season. Senior walk-on Ryan Burton played his first two seasons at Bellarmine.
• Tom Crean begins his eighth year of leading the Hoosiers. Over the last four years, IU is 93-45 (23 wins per season) and leads the Big Ten with 19 regular season wins over ranked opponents during that time. He has also seen a Big Ten best three players selected in the NBA lottery over the last three years and has recruited a McDonald's All-American in each of the last five years. In addition, he has seen seven of his players score 1,000 points or more in an IU uniform.
• The Hoosiers have been ranked anywhere from 4th nationally to 17th in the many preseason polls that have been put out since the end of the season. IU returns four starters from a team which led the Big Ten in scoring and earned an NCAA Tournament berth.
• Over the last four years, the Hoosier offense is first in the Big Ten in points scored (76.5), field goal percentage (47.2), and three-point field goal percentage (39.8).
• IU has been conducting workouts exclusively in Cook Hall since renovations began in Assembly Hall following the conclusion of last season. Construction crews are in the sixth month of work at the future site of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall with progress being made both inside and outside the arena. Demolition, construction and renovations on Assembly Hall will continue through Fall, 2016. The renovation of Assembly Hall was announced in December 2013 when IU Athletics received a $40 million gift -- the largest in its history -- from alumna Cindy Simon Skjodt. In honor of the landmark gift made by Simon Skjodt and her philanthropic organization, the Samerian Foundation, IU will rename Assembly Hall the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at the completion of the construction and renovations. The Simon Skjodt gift also launched IU Athletics capital campaign, which is part of Indiana University's Bicentennial Campaign.
• Rob Judson, who has been with the Hoosiers since he was named Director of Basketball Operations on January 18, 2014, replaced Steve McClain and is now a full-time assistant coach. Judson (Northern Illinois) also joins associate head coach Tim Buckley (Ball State) and assistant coach Chuck Martin (Marist) as former Division I head coaches on the Hoosier bench.
• Brett Burman is the new Director of Operations. He joins the Hoosiers after spending a season in a similar role at the University of Tulsa. Burman, a Miami, Fla., native and graduate of the University of Wisconsin, spent two years with the Detroit Pistons' coaching staff. He also worked as the video coordinator at Hofstra University, served as a graduate assistant at the University of Miami, and has trained prospective NBA players in pre-draft workouts.
• Lyonel Anderson is the program's new Strength and Conditioning Coach. Anderson comes to IU after serving as the associate director of sports performance for the University of Houston football program and during his career he has helped train more than 40 professional athletes. Prior to joining Houston, Anderson worked with the IU football program as assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2012-13. He also served in a similar capacity at Rice University for two years.
• IU is just one of six schools this past year to earn an APR Public Recognition Award and play in the NCAA Tournament.
• Redshirt senior Ryan Burton, who is majoring in finance and accounting at the Kelley School of Business, has been honored by the The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for excelling in academics during the past season. Burton is a member of the 2014-15 NABC Honors Court, and is one of seven players representing the Big Ten Conference.
• Senior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell needs to play in 34 games and start 29 to become the all-time IU leader in both categories. Former teammate Jordan Hulls played in 135 games from 2010-13, another former teammate Christian Watford started 130 games from 2010-13 as did Calbert Cheaney from 1990-93. Cheaney was the Director of Operations for IU during Ferrell's freshman campaign. Ferrell has played and started in 102 games.
• Junior Troy Williams needs to score 349 points this season to become the eighth player in the Tom Crean era to reach the 1,000 point mark. His numbers compare to former All-American Victor Oladipo, who entered his junior campaign with 626 points scored compared to Williams 651, scored 491 points in earning two National Player of the Year awards in his last season in candy stripes.
• Sophomore James Blackmon, Jr. needs 482 points to reach 1,000 career points. Blackmon scored 518 points as a freshman and averaged 15.7 per game. The last sophomore to reach 1,000 points in a career was Cody Zeller in 2013.
• If Williams and Blackmon, Jr. hit those marks it would mean that at least one member of each recruiting class from 2008-2014 would have produced a 1,000-point scorer in each of Tom Crean's first seven recruiting classes. (2008-Verdell Jones III; 2009, Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls; 2010, Victor Oladipo and Will Sheehey; 2011, Cody Zeller; 2012, Kevin Yogi Ferrell.)
