"Although we leave bitter and it feels like a loss, in reality it's not," Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley remarked following the match. "It was a clinic in the first half. I haven't seen an IU team pull apart a Butler team like that. Lot of positives from tonight, but there's disappointment from leaving ourselves exposed to one of their strengths and we will need to make adjustments sooner in the future."

With the ball in the middle of the pitch outside the 18-yard box, Thompson found a streaking Andrew Gutman down the right side of the box. Eight minutes later, Hollinger-Janzen cracked a shot from 25-yards out, with the ball hitting the crossbar and then dfelecting off the Butler keeper to earn the Hoosiers a corner kick. Off the ensuing corner, Phil Fives took a shot from 20-yards out, but the attempt sailed high.
In the 73rd minute, Mitchell struck again for the Bulldogs, chipping the equalizer from the right side of the box, tying the match at 2-2.
