Hoosiers Jump Two Spots In Second Round at Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois – After finishing the first round in 14th place, the IU men's golf team put together a solid team score of 293 on Saturday and moved up two spots to 12th place (296-293, 589; +29) heading into Sunday's final round of the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
The Hoosiers lead UNLV and Northwestern by two shots and Texas Tech by six shots while they are just two strokes behind Arkansas for 11th place.
Sophomore Brendon Doyle's second round was remarkably steady on the scorecard, as he posted one bogey and one birdie and 16 pars – including nine straight on the front nine. He is 5-over par for the tournament (145) and tied for 26th individually.
Freshman Jake Brown bogeyed his first three holes in round two after he had to finish his final hole of the first round earlier in the day. He would steady things over the middle of his round – including a birdie on hole No. 1 – to post a score of 74 in round two. He is 11-over par for the tournament and tied for 58th.
Keegan Vea posted a score of 6-over par on Saturday, leaving him at 8-over par for the tournament and a tie for 41st individually. Max Kollin, who matched Vea's first round score of 72 on Friday, carded a 78 on Saturday and is 10-over par for the tournament and tied for 53rd.
Andrew Havill is also 11-over par for the tournament after his Saturday round of 3-over par 73.
Sophomore Christian Fairbanks registered a score of 85 on Saturday and is now 20-over par for the weekend.
