PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Elliott Yee and the doubles duo of senior Chris Essick and junior Stefan Lujonjic highlighted the first tournament of the fall for the Hoosiers at the Princeton Invitational.
Yee won his first two matches of the tournament and after stumbling in his third match came back to win against Aaron Sandberg from Brown, 6-3, 6-1 to finish in third-place in his flight. Yee's loss in his third match came against Igor Smelyanski from Tennessee, who went on to win the flight.
Essick and Lugonjic won convincingly to open doubles play with an 8-3 win, but were then tested with two straight matches they went to tiebreakers. The Hoosier duo prevailed in each and advanced to the quarterfinal, where they dropped an 8-4 match against Chris Vrabel and Bernardo Casares from Cornell.
