Hoosiers Open #B1G at Michigan State, Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team opens Big Ten play on the road this week with matches at Michigan State and Michigan. The Hoosiers (10-2) will take on the Spartans (8-3) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and battle the Wolverines (10-1) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Hoosiers finished the non-conference part of their schedule with a 10-2 record, their best non-conference mark since the 2010 season 12-0 start, when they advanced to the Sweet 16.
Hoosier History
With the win over Northern Colorado on Saturday, the Hoosiers notched their 10th non-conference win of the season. It was just the sixth time in the last 25 years an Indiana volleyball team has finished non-conference play with 10 or more victories. The Hoosiers also won their seventh straight match, making it the third time in the last 14 years the team has won seven or more matches in a row.
#IUVB in Big Ten Statistical Standings
Senior Amelia Anderson ranks first in the Big Ten (30th in the NCAA) in total kills with 198. Anderson is well ahead of her pace from last season when she totaled 312. Anderson is fifth in the conference in kills/set at 4.04 and is hitting .294 for the season. Megan Tallman is in the top-10 in two categories at seventh in aces set (0.33) and ninth in assists/set (9.64). Jazzmine McDonald ranks 10th in the conference in hitting percentage at .381 with 41 kills and just nine errors in 84 attempts.
Preseason Tournament Success
The Hoosiers won the Indiana Invitational and Northern Colorado Classic tournament this season. In each of the nine seasons IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan has led the team they have won at least one preseason tournament and a total of 16 in nine seasons.
On the Airwaves
This season Lucas Corley is the voice of IU volleyball. For both road matches and home matches Corley will have audio broadcasts and select BTN Plus matches. Lucas is also the host of the weekly coaches show with IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan.
