Volleyball Holds Annual Banquet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team held its annual end of the year banquet on Saturday as they celebrated the season and honored their senior class.
End of the season awards were given out and a 2015 highlight video was presented. IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan talked about the season and each senior reflected on their time at Indiana and their future plans.
First-year players were presented letterwinner gifts, as Elizabeth Asdell, Samantha Fogg and Mallory Waggoner earned their letter jackets. Second-year members Jessica Leish and Makayla Lundin were awarded letter blankets. The juniors, Taylor Lebo, Allison Hammond, Jazzmine McDonald and Megan Tallman earned a framed "I" award and the seniors, Kyndall Merritt, Awele Nwaeze, Amelia Anderson, Chante George and Courtney Harnish were presented their senior rings as well as a framed jersey.
The Hoosiers recognized Big Ten award winners, with Academic All-Big Ten certificates presented to Courtney Harnish, Taylor Lebo, Jessica Leish, Makayla Lundin, Jazzmine McDonald, Mallory Waggoner and Megan Tallman. Harnish also received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award as well as her award for College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team.
Harnish was presented with the players' inspiration award, voted on by her teammates, an honor bestowed upon a student-athlete that demonstrates passion on and off the court and inspires their teammates on a daily basis.
For the second straight year, Harnish was presented with the Hoosier Army ROTC Leadership Award. This award is given to Hoosier Scholar-Athletes who demonstrate through exceptional leadership the ability to elevate the performance level, morale and cohesion of their team and a commitment to selfless service, sacrifice and a never quit attitude are at the core of their character. Whether in practice or a game, in the classroom or on the court, this Hoosier Scholar-Athlete is trusted, respected and admired for their willingness and ability to lead.
The team honored Makayla Lundin with the community outreach award for her commitment to community engagement and Courtney Harnish and Kyndall Merritt were presented the coaches award, given to the player or players who best exemplify the character on which the foundation of the program has been built and maintained.
