Three Hoosiers Earn Weekly Big Ten Honors

CHICAGO – Three members of the Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned weekly Big Ten honors on Wednesday, the conference office announced.
Blake Pieroni was named Co-Swimmer of the Week, Joshua Arndt was named Diver of the Week and Lilly King was named Co-Freshman of the Week. The honor is the third the season for Pieroni, the first for Arndt and the fifth total for King.
Pieroni and Arndt both helped the Hoosiers upend rival Purdue last Saturday at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind., 187-107.
In the 200 freestyle, Pieroni continued his dominance this season, winning with a NCAA B cut qualifying time of 1:36.54. Arndt was terrific in the 1-meter dive, winning with a career-best score of 371.70. Arndt's career total ranks him 11th all-time in IU history. Arndt also placed second in the platform with a total of 305.85.
King was once again tremendous for the Hoosier women's team last Saturday, helping Indiana beat the Boilermakers, 185.5-114.5, winning both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
King's time of 1:00.23 is the season-best for the Evansville, Ind. native and ranks her as the fifth-best 100 breast stroke swimmer in school history. Her winning time of 2:12.60 in the 200 breast, like her time in the 100 breast, was also a NCAA B cut mark.
For her efforts, King was named the TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming.com Division I Swimmer-of-the-Week on Tuesday.
Indiana will wrap up the dual meet portion of the 2015-16 schedule on Friday, January 29 when the team will head south to face the Louisville Cardinals. The dual meet is scheduled for a 5 p.m. ET start.
