BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer announced the 2016 spring schedule today, highlighted by a February tournament and four April games, including two to be played at Armstrong Stadium.
The Hoosiers will get things started with a 7v7 tournament hosted by University of Illinois on Feb. 27 and will take on squads from Illinois, Indiana State, Illinois State and Western Kentucky.
Returning to competition on April 3, IU hosts Saint Louis in a Sunday afternoon showdown in Bloomington. The Billikens are coming off a 2015 season that saw them register an 8-9-2 record. Indiana and Saint Louis have battled three times in the regular season, splitting the series, 1-1-1.
The following weekend, Indiana will host University of Kentucky, who finished last season's campaign with a 9-7-4 mark. The regular season series has been tightly contested over the years, sitting at a 4-4-1 stalemate.
Both games at Armstrong Stadium are open to the public and free of charge.
On April 16, the Hoosiers will travel to Ohio to play University of Dayton. Indiana leads the all-time regular season series against the Flyers, 2-1-0, with the last battle ending in a 2-1 IU victory in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 7, 2014. Dayton finished the 2015 season with a 10-9-1 record.
Indiana wraps up the spring slate with another Ohio foe as the Hoosiers take on Miami University at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. on April 22. The RedHawks finished with an 11-8-2 mark last season, including a spot in the MAC Championship, and saw midfielder Korrie Sauder get tabbed for the All-MAC Freshman Team. IU leads the all-time regular season series, 2-0, with the last meeting coming in a 2-1 Indiana victory in 2003. The two teams have also played the last four spring seasons.
