BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Former Indiana men's tennis student-athlete Sven Lalic has been added as a volunteer assistant coach for the program.
In two seasons for the Hoosiers Lalic won 31 singles matches and 30 doubles matches. Lalic transferred to IU from Armstrong Atlantic State, where he helped the team to the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championship.
"We are very excited that Sven will be helping us this spring season," Wurtzman said. "He was a big part of our success last spring and was a great leader. I feel that he will be a great coach as he has a ton of passion for both coaching and IU and his energy during practice and matches will be great for this year's team."
Lalic graduated in December with a degree in Economics and minors in Sociology and Psychology. While at Indiana Lalic earned multiple Academic All-Big Ten honors and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic recognition.
"I'm excited to continue with the Hoosiers in a coaching role," Lalic said. "I felt privileged to represent Indiana as a student-athlete and hope to help the current student-athletes as a coach."
The Hoosiers open the season with the ITA Kickoff in Chapel Hill, N.C. on January 23 against North Carolina.
