Indiana vs. Nebraska
October 15, 2016
• Indiana's defense limited Nebraska to 27 points, 360 total yards, 208 passing yards and 152 rushing yards. The Cornhuskers entered the game averaging 37.0 points, 472.6 total yards, 238.4 passing yards and 234.2 rushing yards.
• Safety Jonathan Crawford recorded his first interception of the year and the fifth of his career in the second quarter. The sophomore finished with seven tackles and one pass breakup.
• Safety Tony Fields picked off his first pass of the season and the second of his career in the fourth quarter. The junior had seven tackles (all solo) on the night.
• IU has seven interceptions, including two multi-INT games, and 11 takeaways in 2016. The Hoosiers have scored 26 points off of the takeaways.
• Junior linebacker Tegray Scales collected his fourth straight double-digit tackle game and the fifth of his career with a game-high 12 stops (8 solo). Scales tallied two TFLs and now has 7.5 on the year.
• Fifth-year senior defensive tackles Ralph Green III added six tackles and one for a loss. Green owns two games with one-or-more TFLs this season and four in his career.
• Linebacker Marcus Oliver was second on the team with eight tackles. The redshirt junior recorded his second career sack, his first this season, and finished with 1.5 for loss.
• Mitchell Paige caught a season-high nine balls for a season-high 101 yards, returned one punt for 39 yards and rushed one time for seven yards. The fifth-year senior compiled 147 all-purpose yards. It is Paige's first 100-yard game this year and the second of his career.
• Devine Redding crossed the goal line for the first time in 2016 with a 33-yard run, set up by Paige's punt return. The junior added his first career receiving TD in the fourth, a 4-yarder, for his fourth career multi-score game. Redding finished with 57 yards on 11 carries (5.2 average) and two receptions for five yards.
=• Fifth-year senior Ricky Jones caught six passes for 76 yards. This marks his 10th career game with five or more receptions.
• Quarterback Richard Lagow completed 19-of-32 passes for 196 yards. Lagow had one touchdown pass to bring the Hoosiers within two in the fourth quarter.
• Junior Zander Diamont saw action in his second game this season. The quarterback rushed eight times for 31 yards and passed seven times. Diamont completed five passes (71.4 percent) for 49 yards.
• Sophomore Leon Thornton III made his first career reception for 11 yards in the third quarter.
• Griffin Oakes moved into fourth on the IU career field goals list (45) and ninth on the career total points list (228) with 45- and 36-yard field goals and two PATs. The redshirt junior out of Greenwood, Ind., is 8-of-12 on the season and 17-of-17 on extra points.
• Redshirt junior Chase Dutra got the Hoosiers on the board with his first career blocked punt, which bounced through the Nebraska end zone for a safety, in the second quarter. It was Indiana's second safety in 2016 (Florida International) and its first blocked punt since Isaiah Roundtree's against Ohio State on Oct. 13, 2012.
• Dutra added five tackles (4 solo), marking his third straight game with at least five tackles.
• Husky Marcelino Ball recorded his fifth straight game with at least four tackles (6). The true freshman also added a career-high two PBUs and a TFL.
• Indiana only had one penalty on the day compared to Nebraska's nine.
• Junior tight end Ian Thomas earned the first start of his career.
• Fifth-year senior Jacob Bailey (2nd time in 2016), redshirt junior Marcus Oliver (6th), redshirt junior Rashard Fant (1st) and junior Tegray Scales (1st) served as today's game captains.
• Indiana won the coin toss for the fourth time this season and deferred until the second half for the fourth time this season.
• IU and Nebraska met for the first time since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten and the first time since 1978. IU leads the all-time series, 9-8-3.
