Hoosiers Ranked 12th In Preseason USA Today Coaches Poll

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - The Indiana men's basketball team, which has finished the season twice in the top 10 during the last four years, is ranked 12th in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll. It marks the fourth time in the last five years that IU has started the season in the national rankings. IU has been nationally ranked during the season for six consecutive years.
Joining the Hoosiers from the Big Ten are Michigan State (9th), Wisconsin (10th), Purdue (15th) and Maryland (21st).
Non-conference opponents in the ratings include Kansas (2nd), North Carolina (6th) and Louisville (14th). Opponents from last season listed include Duke (1st), Kentucky (4th), and Creighton (23rd).
The defending Big Ten Conference Champion Hoosiers will open exhibition play on Tuesday, December 1 against Hope College.
Coach Tom Crean, the 2016 Big Ten Coach of the Year, will lead a group of Hoosiers that boasts Preseason All-Americans Thomas Bryant and OG Anunoby, Preseason All-Big Ten guard James Blackmon Jr. and veteran guard Robert Johnson who has started most every game in his previous two seasons.
