Maryland at Indiana
October 29, 2016
• Indiana defeated Maryland for the second straight year and the first time in Memorial Stadium. The Hoosiers lead the all-time series, 4-1.
• IU rushed for a season-high 414 yards, the third time over 400 rushing yards under head coach Kevin Wilson. The Hoosiers' 650 total yards rank tied for the fourth-most in school history. It marks the fifth time under Wilson that Indiana has eclipsed 650 total yards. The 42 points mark the 17th time that a Wilson led team has scored 40-or-more points.
• Devine Redding went over 100 yards rushing for the fourth time this year and the seventh time in his career with 130 yards on 17 carries (7.6 average). The junior scored his second rushing touchdown of the season and the 12th of his career, from 1 yard out, in the opening quarter. Redding also has a receiving TD in 2016.
• Tyler Natee rushed for a career-high 111 yards on 18 attempts (6.2). Natee took snaps at quarterback and played running back in the game. The true freshman rushed for his second career touchdown on a 2-yarder in the fourth quarter.
• Zander Diamont collected his first two rushing touchdowns of the season and now has six in his career. Diamont's first was an 11-yard scamper in the first quarter. His second put the game away with a 52-yard rush with 49 seconds remaining. The junior quarterback finished with a career-high 104 yards on 11 rushes (9.5 average) and completed his only pass attempt for 29 yards.
• IU last had three players with over 100 yards in a single game against Purdue on Nov. 30, 2013 – Tre Roberson (154), Stephen Houston (120) and D'Angelo Roberts (113).
• Fifth-year senior wide receiver Mitchell Paige put the Hoosiers ahead for good with a 15-yard rushing TD, the first of his career. Paige and Lagow have each caught a touchdown, rushed for a score and thrown a TD this season. Indiana is the only team in the country with two players who have done so.
• Redshirt junior Richard Lagow went 16-of-25 for 207 yards with no interceptions and a 5-yard rushing score.
• It is believed to be the first time in program history five different players have scored a rushing touchdown against an FBS opponent. Five individuals scored against Murray State on Sept. 6, 2008.
• Sophomore wideout Nick Westbrook caught six passes for 65 yards, while fifth-year senior Ricky Jones made four receptions for 77 yards.
• Four of Indiana's scoring drives took 10-or-more plays. IU now has 10 double-digit play drives on the season
• Tegray Scales reached double digits in tackles for the sixth straight game, the second-longest active streak in the nation and the longest streak for a Hoosier since at least 1990. The junior linebacker made a career-high-tying and a game-high 13 stops, his seventh career game in double figures, and set a career-high with 11 solos. Scales has also led the Hoosiers in tackles in six consecutive contests.
• Marcus Oliver set the program career record with a pair of forced fumbles, his second coming in the fourth quarter, giving him 11 in his IU tenure. The redshirt junior's second force came on his second sack of the game and set up Indiana's final touchdown. Oliver finished the game with eight tackles and two sacks, his first career multi-sack game. His 2.5 TFLs were also a career-high.
• True freshman husky Marcelino Ball picked off his second pass this season in the first quarter, which led to IU's second touchdown. Ball had two takeaways on the night as he also recovered a fumble, setting up the Natee TD run. He added two pass breakups and eight tackles on the night – this gives him at least five in every game of his career.
• Sophomore safety Jonathan Crawford matched his career-high in tackles with nine, while setting a new personal-best in solo stops with eight.
• The Hoosiers have eight interceptions this season and five fumble recoveries, which have led to 39 points. Today marked IU's fifth multi-takeaway game in 2016.
• Redshirt juniors Patrick Dougherty and Nate Hoff shared a sack in the first quarter and redshirt sophomore Derrian Meminger recorded the first sack of his career in quarter two. Dougherty owns 1.5 this season and in his career, while Hoff has 2.5 in 2016 and six in his career.
• The Hoosiers set a season-high in sacks with four, while also adding eight tackles for loss. Indiana is averaging 9.5 TFLs over the last two games (11 at Northwestern, 8 vs. Maryland) after averaging 4.3 over its first six games.
• Griffin Oakes hit a 20-yard field goal and three extra points. The redshirt junior out of Greenwood, Ind., moved into a tie for second on the IU career field goals list (48), sixth on the career extra points list (96) and sixth on the career total points list (240).
• Fifth-year senior Dan Feeney (4th time in 2016), fifth-year senior Ricky Jones (4th time), fifth-year senior Mitchell Paige (3rd time) and redshirt junior Marcus Oliver (8th) served as today's game captains.
• Indiana won the coin toss for the sixth time this season and deferred until the second half for the sixth time this season.
