BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball closed out fall play on Sunday afternoon, defeating Lake Land, 8-1, and dropping a 3-2 decision to Valparaiso at Andy Mohr Field.
In the first game of the day, the Hoosiers were led by a 3-for-3 outing by senior CaraMia Tsirigos, who picked up a pair of RBI in the win. Juniors Aimilia McDonough and Shayna Gamm each knocked a pair of hits in the game, as did freshman Gabbi Jenkins, who also scored three times and earned a walk.
In the circle, sophomore Tara Trainer got the start and went 3.0 innings, allowing just one run. Sophomore Jessica Conenna came in to pitch 4.0 scoreless innings.
Game two saw the Hoosiers get down early as the comeback bid fell just short. After Valparaiso took a 3-0 second-inning lead, freshman Katie Lacefield and sophomore Sarah Galovich each plated a run. The Hoosiers loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't find the game-tying run.
