BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Following the big weekend for Indiana volleyball with a win over No. 13 Michigan, freshman Kendall Beerman was honored with the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award.
Against the Wolverines, Beerman posted 14 kills and hit a .440 hitting percentage. She added three blocks as the Hoosiers recorded the third most blocks in a four-set match in school history with 21.
Beerman is second on the team with 211 kills and leads the Big Ten among freshmen in hitting percentage at .281. Beerman is fifth in kills per set among Big Ten freshmen at 2.85 per set.
"Kendall has put together a good freshman resume this year in the toughest conference in the country," IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan. "She has turned into a go to player for us and is a true competitor. I'm proud of this award for her with hopefully many more in front of her to earn."
Beerman is the first volleyball student to earn a Big Ten athlete of the week honor since Awele Nwaeze in the 2014 season and first freshman of the week honoree for Indiana since Katie Gallagher in the 2012 season.
Beerman and the Hoosiers take on Minnesota in Minneapolis on Wednesday Nov. 2 and are back at home on Saturday Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. as they host Ohio State.
