An inside look at the Hoosiers direct from the IU Coaching Staff
HOOSIER NATION,
Our ninth year together is about to begin and everyone in our program could not be more excited. We are coming off a season which saw us win the program's 22nd Big Ten Title and finish among the top 10 programs in the country in the final coaches poll. It's the second time in four years we have won the Big Ten outright and we take unbelievable pride in that accomplishment.
We experienced first-hand the sense of accomplishment when the focus is solely on the task at hand and a collection of individuals bring their talents together as one.
That includes you, the greatest fans in college basketball. Your support led us to a No. 7 ranking in college basketball attendance last year and with six games available to our entire fan base while students are away this year, we will need you more than ever.
I hope you will join us for Hoosier Hysteria on October 22. You will have the opportunity to see all of the great changes that have taken place in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. I'm personally thrilled that we will still retain the best home court advantage in college basketball, yet modernize many of the amenities of this historic facility.
For the first time in my tenure, we will open the season on the road at the Armed Forces Classic in Honolulu against #4 Kansas on November 11. This is one of ESPN's premiere events and we feel fortunate to participate in what should be an opening night to remember.
We will have #6 North Carolina at home for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, November 30 and have two trips to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on December 17 in the Crossroads Classic to face Butler and on New Years Eve to start a three-game series with Louisville.
In many publications, those games are being viewed as the most anticipated matchups this coming season.
I was so proud of what our young men accomplished last season. They endured so much and through it gave everything they had for Indiana.
As a new season begins, it is important that we maintain a similar commitment and connectedness to one another and everyone who supports us.
As I said the first day I came here, this is the absolute pinnacle of college basketball. Wherever we go, the presence of Hoosier Nation is powerful.
We cannot wait to see you, your family and your friends this year.
Sincerely,
