Hoosiers Sign Two for 2017 Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University men's tennis head coach Jeremy Wurtzman has announced the signings of Andrew Redding (Concord, N.C/ Cannon High School) and Brandon Lam (Santa Rosa Valley, Calif/Westlake High School).
"We are excited to add Brandon and Andrew to the team next year," Wurtzman said. "Assistant coach Mike Murray and I feel that they will be great additions to our team as they both have high goals for their tennis and academics. In building a culture it is important to add high character students and both Brandon and Andrew hold themselves to a very high standard on and off the court."
Redding is a 4-star recruit who is the top ranked player in the state of North Carolina and top 100 in the U.S. according to TennisRecruiting.net. In junior tennis, Redding currently has a 38-18 record.
"Andrew has an incredible work ethic and a ton of potential to continue to develop at IU," Wurtzman said. "He has been a successful player in the Southern Section at every age. Mike and I feel that with his great attitude and potential that he will be a big asset for the Hoosiers."
Lam is a 5-star recruit that is ranked 46 nationally according to TennisRecruiting.net and ranked No. 13 in Calif.
"Brandon has grown up in the Southern Cal section playing against the nations best," Wurtzman said. "He has been a proven winner and I feel that his game will translate very well in the Big Ten Conference. He has also had great success on the doubles court which is huge in college tennis."
Lam and Redding are the fifth and sixth 4-star or higher that Wurtzman and Murray have brought in as coaches of the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers have concluded the fall season and will open dual match play on Jan. 21 against Dartmouth.
