OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Indiana University men's soccer's Tanner Thompson was named one of 10 finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award on Wednesday.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Thompson has been a leader on and off the field for the Hoosiers, helping IU reach the NCAA Tournament in his first three seasons as well as being an active member of the community. Thompson and his fellow Hoosiers have participated in Read Across America and at a children's therapy center in the community.
A two-time All-America honoree on the pitch, Thompson is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection for IU. This year, Thompson leads the No. 4 Hoosiers with eight goals and two assists.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 21.
Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2016 NCAA Men's College Cup championship in December.
