Hoosiers Fall at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior Taylor Lebo became the 12th player in program history to reach 400 digs for a season, but the Indiana volleyball team fell in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) on Friday at the XFINITY Pavilion.
Senior Allison Hammond led the Hoosiers (17-15, 6-13) with nine kills and senior Megan Tallman tallied 22 assists for Indiana.
Lebo posted 16 digs for the match to push her total to 401 digs for the season. Lebo now has 1,159 career digs, which ranks sixth on the Hoosiers all-time list for career digs.
Senior Jazzmine McDonald tallied six kills on 12 swings and hit .417 for the match.
The Maryland offense used an efficient attack as they hit .312 for the match. Maryland hit .444 in the first set and .351 in the second set to build a 2-0 lead.
In the third set the Indiana defense contributed to lowering the Maryland hitting percentage to .208.
The Hoosiers trailed Maryland 10-9 in the third set, but the Terrapins scored four of the next five points to go out front 14-10. Maryland maintained that four-point lead at 20-16.
Indiana came back to within one at 21-20 on a Maryland error, but the Terrapins scored the next three points to build a 24-20 lead and finished the match on an Indiana attack error to win the set, 25-21 and take the match.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
